We visit Kathmandu for the second time following the inauguration of our project last July. Together with our local partner Apeiron Onlus, we're aiming to promote gender equality

Kathmandu – A few months into our collaboration, Apeiron tell us about comments from a parent and a teacher relating to how it’s going for two girls involved in the project. Their words provide confirmation that the youngsters are benefitting from the experience, with the training sessions helping them to socialise and have more confidence in themselves.

Hearing this is important for us, especially given that the project has only just begun and it’s a new experience for our four local coaches too. The local staff are a close-knit and eager group and well-aware of the discrimination that women face in Nepal and thus the importance of the project.

Despite the fact that all of this is taking place in a charming and highly spiritual setting in the Himalayas, young girls and boys playing together is not something which can be taken for granted. This makes our work even more important.
