MILAN – Zè Maria’s one-touch finish and a goal from Martins after some great running. 15 years ago, Inter vs. Cagliari was played at San Siro. The Nerazzurri, who were then coached by Roberto Mancini, ran out 2-0 winners on 17 April 2005. This is the answer to the quiz we launched in our Instagram Stories on our official account.
That day, Toldo was the man between the sticks, while Zanetti and Favalli lined up as Inter’s full-backs. The two centre-backs were Materazzi and Mihajlovic, the latter of whom had the Nerazzurri’s first chance of the game as his free kick from just over 25 yards out was saved by Iezzo.
In midfield, the Argentine trio ofVeron, Cambiasso and Kily Gonzalez took to the pitch. As did Zè Maria, the man who broke the deadlock after 40 minutes. Up front, Cruz and Martins played alongside each other. The Nigerian striker was one of the key players during the match: first, he provided an assist for the opening goal, and then he struck on the break after rounding the goalkeeper and firing the ball into an empty net.
