PRAGUE - Armando Madonna's Inter were beaten 4-1 by Slavia Prague on matchday five of the UEFA Youth League 2019/20. Fonseca put the Nerazzurri in front but the hosts came back with a Silva Estevam Aguiar hat-trick and a goal from Cerv. Despite the defeat, Inter remain in top spot of Group F, level on points with Slavia.
The opening of the game was all Inter with Oristanio twice getting close to the goal, the Nerazzurri number 18 only just being kept out by Slavia’s goalkeeper in the 22nd minute. It wasn’t long however before Inter broke through, Fonseca charging down a Surovcik clearance to divert it into the net for the opener. But Slavia responded immediately, turning the game around before the break with a brace from Silva Estevam Aguiar.
Slavia’s number 16 was also at the centre of things in the second half, dispatching a free kick in the 49th minute for his hat trick. This was followed swiftly by a fourth from Cerv in the 53rd minute. Despite Vergani, Gnonto and Squizzato all coming on in an attempt to turn things around, it was too late for Inter and the game ended 4-1 at the Stadion Na Chvalech.
This result sees the Czech side go level with Inter at the top of Group F, with the Nerazzurri’s fate depending on the game against Barcelona, which will be played at the Stadio Breda on Tuesday 10 December.
