The Nerazzurri midfielder to Sky: "The Coach always wants to win, he gives us courage and really helps drive us”

APPIANO GENTILE - Less than 24 hours after the Nerazzurri’s vital win at the “Marassi”, the sixth in just as many matches in Serie A, Roberto Gagliardini spoke to Sky: “The win in Genoa lets us know what we’re capable of. We showed that we can boss the game in a difficult stadium, even in spite of a numerical disadvantage. We stayed compact and we killed off the game with the third goal. This success is a boost for our morale ahead of the big matches which await us.”

On Wednesday the Nerazzurri will be in action at the Camp Nou for matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League against Barcelona, while Sunday evening will see Inter face Juventus at San Siro in the Derby d’Italia: “We want to win all of the games we play. Now we’ve got a really tough fixture against Barcelona, but we want to bring some points home after the draw in the opener against Slavia Prague. We’ll prepare for the match in the best way possible and we’ll only start to think about Juventus after the final whistle.”

Of the 14 goals scored by the Nerazzurri so far this season, eight have come from midfielders: “We know that the midfield’s work is a big part of the Coach’s game, even in front of goal. We’re trying our best to do what he asks of us. He gives us courage, determination. His career speaks for itself, he always wants to win and he really helps drive us.”

On a personal note: “I’m very happy, I really want to do well here. I’ve also become a father, which helps me a lot and I hope that this season can give me a lot of satisfaction on the pitch as well.”
