— Dec 21st 2019The Nerazzurri created a number of chances but failed to take them as the last match of 2019 ended in defeat to Atalanta
ZINGONIA - On matchday 13 of the Primavera 1 TIM season, Atalanta beat Inter 2-1. Colley and Traore scored for the hosts and a Fonseca penalty wasn’t enough. It was an excellent performance from the Nerazzurri and taking chances was the the only thing lacking. Armando Madonna’s team will be back in 2020 to face Empoli at the Suning Youth Development Centre.
The Nerazzurri got off to a great start with a number of big chances early on. Fonseca hit the post while various Ndiaye saves prevented Inter from going ahead. Atalanta came into the game more as time went on and they went ahead in the 28th minute through Colley. First Piccoli tested Stankovic who turned his shot onto the post before the no.10 turned home the rebound. The first half ended with Inter unable to finish from another chance despite the quality of the performance.
The second half began and it was the same story as the match continued to be a hard-fought affair played at a high tempo. In the 52nd minute, Colombini just missed the ball in the opposition box before Pirola was superb at the other end to keep Colley out. In the 57th minute, Inter scored a deserved equaliser. Colombini was brought down by Brogni in the area before Fonseca stepped up to send Ndiaye the wrong way. In the 72nd minute, just after coming on, Oristanio saw an excellent strike turned behind for a corner by the Atalanta goalkeeper. A few minutes later, Atalanta retook the lead with Traore turning home from a Cambiaghi cross. Inter went in search of a late equaliser but couldn’t find it despite the quality of the performance.
