Armando Madonna's Under-19s make it three out of three in the league, Matias Fonseca's goal decides the contest in Frattamaggiore

NAPOLI - Armando Madonna’s U19 side maintained their perfect Primavera 1 TIM record today: Inter ran out 1-0 winners in Napoli this afternoon thanks to Fonseca’s 19th-minute strike. In doing so, they picked up their third consecutive win and fourth in all competitions. The Nerazzurri will return to action on Wednesday, when they’ll face Barcelona on matchday two of the UEFA Youth League group stage.

Amato Ciciretti had the first effort on goal, with Stankovic doing well to put the ball behind for a corner. Inter responded through Fonseca: his shot was powerful but too close to the goalkeeper. With 19 minutes on the clock, Armando Madonna’s side took the lead thanks to Matias Fonseca, who beat Idasiak with a low left-footed strike into the corner. Inter continued to grow as the minutes passed, even if Ciciretti came inches away to equalising on the half-hour mark after Agoume had lost the ball in midfield. In the final minutes of the first half, Schirò threatened from outside the box but was unable to extent the Nerazzurri’s lead.

After the restart, Palmieri was unable to find the back of the net with a header. Midway through the half, chances for Mulattieri and then Gianelli came and went begging as Inter looked to extend their advantage. In the 82nd minute Mulattieri fired towards goal with his right foot but was once again left to rue his luck. As the match was coming to a close, the Nerazzurri had numerous chances to put the game to bed once and for all but had to settle for just the one in the end. Up next for Madonna’s team is a match against Barcelona on matchday two in the UEFA Youth League.
