De Vrij: "We were focused until the end, this is a good group"

MILAN - Inter picked up an important win against Udinese. The 1-0 result was secured thanks to an excellent defensive performance with Stefan De Vrij playing a big part. The Dutch defender spoke to Inter TV following the match: “We’re happy with the win. It was important to be in the game for the full 90 minutes. Udinese play a lot on the break, they have a quick forward in Lasagna who attacks space well. We stayed focused and sharp, even if we misplaced a few passes . After the red card, we looked for more goals. We scored and then weren’t able to get more in the second half but we did well to not give away an equaliser.” 

For the first time, De Vrij started alongside Godin and Skriniar. “I feel very good alongside them, I’m happy to have the chance to play alongside such strong players and this makes your job your easier. Like the Coach asks of us, we tried to build from the back and carry the ball forward when possible. We need to work on this and improve, but you can already see the progress.” 

On Tuesday’s match against Slavia Prague: “We’ve started well in the league with nine points from three games but there’s still a long way to go. The atmosphere is certainly good and the group is there, we want to play together.”
