GRANOZZO CON MONTICELLO - In the final of the Dante Berretti league, Massimiliano Capriolo’s Torino claimed the title of Italian champions. The Nerazzurri went behind and were unfortunate while a goal down, hitting the bar twice before the Granata made it 2-0 to kill off Inter’s hope.
Torino started better in the final for the Scudetto and won a penalty in the eleventh minute for a Vaghi handball. Moreo sent Pozzer the wrong way to fire the Granata ahead. The Nerazzurri posed more of a threat as time went on and hit the bar in the 27th minute through Gianelli. Seven minutes later, Inter hit the woodwork for a second time through a Mulattieri header. With time running down, Torino missed a chance on the break to extend the lead.
In the second half, Inter struggled to trouble Lewis in the Torino goal. Torino kept attacking and in the 68th minute, Colombini cleared off the line following a Pozzer save. The Inter goalkeeper couldn’t do anything later on though to stop Leggero from heading in to make it 2-0 and finish Gianmario Corti’s side’s comeback hopes.
