NAPLES - Inter Primavera made the most of their trip to Frattamaggiore on Friday afternoon, securing the 2-0 win over Napoli with goals from Merola and Schirò on matchday 25 in Primavera 1 TIM to further consolidate second spot. The Nerazzurri now have 50 points.
Armando Madonna's side studied the Partenopei early on before managing to get on the front foot early with a flurry of quality attacking build-ups. Colidio fired over in the twelfth minute. Eventually, Inter would be rewarded for their efforts in the 20th minute, with Pompetti playing a high ball into the penalty area, Merola rising above to head home past D’Andrea and into the lead.
In the moments following the decisive event, Napoli’s Negro threatened Dekic’s goal with a dangerous effort, but the Inter goalkeeper managed to keep the hosts off the scoresheet and maintain the advantage into the half-time break.
Second half action commenced with Napoli and Inter both in an exchange of decent attacking opportunities. Napoli boss Roberto Baronio went to his bench often, mounting pressure onto Inter in hopes of unlocking the match with the hosts turning to long balls. Despite a few tense moments midway through the second 45 minutes, Inter managed to see it through, regain control and get the win.
After the match referee signalled for 4 additional minutes, Inter plunged forward to double their lead through a quickly executed counterattack by Colidio, supplying Schirò who made no mistake from close distance, confidently burying his chance.
The full-time result ended with Inter picking up the crucial 2-0 victory on the road at the Stadio Pasquale Ianniello. A quick regrouping for Madonna and his youngsters ensues before preparing for the next encounter with Genoa next Saturday at 13:00 CEST.
