EMPOLI - On matchday 23 in Primavera 1 TIM, the match between Empoli and Inter finished all square. Bertolini opened the scoring in the 20th minute for the home side before Eddie Salcedo made it 1-1 in the 78th minute. The Nerazzurri were able to create a number of chances but without taking them. Armando Madonna’s U-19s still have a game in hand which will be against Sampdoria on 13 April and are now level with Torino in third on 43 points.
The teams looked to work each other out in the early exchanges before the deadlock was broken in the 20th minute by the first real shot on goal. Bertolini made the most of an error from Ntube to fire across Dekic and in. In the 30th minute, Inter looked to respond as Corrado got away down the left, he crossed into the middle for Gavioli but Saro saved. A minute later, Pompetti hit the woodwork with an effort from outside the box and the goalkeeper was beaten. In the 40th minute, Merola went down in the box but the referee waved play on. The first half finished 1-0 despite all of the Inter pressure.
In the second half, Armando Madonna’s side continued to attack with Saro making saves in the 62nd and 63rd minutes from Salcedo and then Schirò. A few moments later, Empoli were dangerous on the break but Dekic did well to come off his line and save. In the 67th minute, Eddie had a go but it went over. The equaliser finally came in the 78th minute when Salcedo caught Saro out from distance with his right-foot strike. In the 88th minute, Dekic did brilliantly to save from Gianneschi and it finished 1-1.
