MILAN – While attending the Shareholders’ Meeting held today, Inter’s Chief Executive Officer Corporate Alessandro Antonello gave an exclusive interview to Inter TV. The first question was about LionRock Capital becoming part of the Inter family: "We’d like to welcome the new shareholders, this represents another step forward with regards to the Club’s development project. LionRock will be able to provide us with support over the short and long term as we look to grow. This is a project that started when Suning acquired the Club. The fact that an international partner like LionRock wants to get involved with this project gives us confidence and confirms that we’re doing the right things. We are doing our best to execute the strategies we have set ourselves. So we’d like to give a big welcome to LionRock, and we hope they can support us in this exciting journey as the Club looks to grow."
This year, Inter have been ranked 14th in the Deloitte Football Money League. This represents a climb of one place from last year, while two years ago the Club were placed in 19th. Future objectives are in line with the growth the club has achieved in the past couple of years: "We’ve achieved very important results, and this is the result of the work done in the past two years, a sign that everything we’ve implemented is starting to bear fruit. Being in 14th position is a step forward in terms of the growth of the Club, and we hope to further improve our position in the current season. This is important, because with the support of Suning we have been able to grow not only in European markets but in Asia too. There is now the possibility of having a Chinese market open to our fans in addition to new collaborations with Chinese partners. We hope that the path that we have taken will continue for a long time."
Finally, Antonello spoke about the stadium: "The stadium is a key aspect when a club wants to grow. Today, we are here at San Siro, an iconic stadium that needs to be renovated. At the moment, we are working together with AC Milan on a joint project, but we are still to assess which is the best project, that is whether to renovate the current stadium or build a new one. Nevertheless, having a modern, state-of-the-art stadium will be one of the main drivers of growth in the coming years."
