Cedric: "My characteristics suit this project well"

MILAN - "I’m really so happy, Inter is an incredible Club. To be able to wear the Nerazzurri’s shirt is a dream come true." Cedric Soares wasn’t holding back his emotions when he held his first interview with Inter TV.

The Portuguese defender is ready for a new adventure at San Siro and he can’t wait to be ready and available for Luciano Spalletti. "I like his style of play and I’ve seen various Inter matches, I’ve also spoken with my friend and compatriot Joao Mario. It’s important that a player’s characteristics suit the technical project and I’m sure that I can adapt well to this team. I’ll certainly take some time to settle at the start but with the help of my teammates, I’ll be able to improve quickly."

At Inter, the 27-year-old hopes to recreate the winning formula he found with Joao Mario when Portugal won Euro 2016: "Joao Mario is a friend, not just a teammate. We developed as players at the same club, and it’s great that he’s here and that I’ll be able to play with him once more. He’s told me a lot of things about Inter. He said that they are a team who like to control matches and who are well-organised tactically. Being here is a great opportunity for me. I’ll fight alongside him to help the club achieve the results it wants to achieve."

Soares also talked about San Siro and the emotions he will feel when playing at the Scala del Calcio: "San Siro is a legendary stadium. When you are young, every player dreams of one day being able to play at the Meazza. It is a stadium rich in history, many great players have graced its turf. It will be an absolute pleasure, and I believe it was my destiny to play for the Nerazzurri because when I was young, I had a photo of Inter’s team in my school exercise book."

He finished by discussing his and the team’s objectives in the near future: "I hope to help Inter obtain big results, we are competing in three competitions and this is a great situation to be in."
