Strong participation levels in the summer initiative from Inter, Suning and the CSI to help young people in areas affected by earthquakes

MILAN - Hundreds of young people were involved in ten days of training across various facilities in the areas that were struck by earthquakes in order to give the youngest the chance to play and to show another sign of solidarity. Three months since the opening of the sports centre in Tolentino (MC), further collaboration took place between Inter and the CSI volunteers along with coaches from Inter Campus and the FC Internazionale Milano Elite Academy.

The itinerant visit of Inter Campus across the places in Marche affected by the 2016 earthquake was held to give youngsters aged between 6 and 14 the chance to play football and sport between the end of July and the start of August, and it was a great success. It was significant result for the collaboration between Inter and the Centro Sportivo Italiano through the ‘Un Gol per Ripartire’ campaign for people affected by the terrible earthquake that struck central Italy two years ago. The initiative involved the youngest in the 6 to 10 age band along with the more experienced Under-14s from Castelraimondo, Camerino, Matelica, Civitanova Marche, Sarnano, San Severino Marche and Tolentino. In the latter, a multi-sport facility was opened on 21 April 2018 thanks to the aid of FC Internazionale Milano, the CSI and Suning Sports and it will be managed by CSI Macerata from September.

The involvement of local council administrators, mayors, assessors and delegates was of note as they personally got involved in the different towns on the tour. FC Internazionale Milano’s Relation Community Coordinator Alberto Bassani was ever-present in supporting this initiative. The youngsters form Norcia with their ‘I love Norcia’ shirts also didn’t go unnoticed as the young footballers from CSI Foligno took part in two of the Nerazzurri’s stop-offs.
