SAVIGNANO SUL RUBICONE - After winning the Scudetto on Thursday, Paolo Annoni’s Under-15s were celebrating once more. Today, Inter beat Padova 1-0 to claim the Supercoppa. An own goal by Donà at a corner taken by Ballabio made the difference. Today’s win represents an important milestone for the Elite Academy. It was the 50th trophy in history, the 30th since 2000 and the 16th in the past five years. It was an important accolade for Inter and one that reiterates the amount of effort being put in by the club to develop young players.
At the Stadio Capanni, Serie A and B champions Inter faced Serie C winners Padova. The Nerazzurri started brightly, with Pezzini missing a good chance in the seventh minute. A minute later, Peschetola hit the bar with a header. Inter controlled possession as Padova sat deep and looked to defend which they did with the first half finishing goalless.
In the second half, Annoni’s side came out with more determination in search of an opening goal. Six minutes into the half, Ballabio delivered a corner kick and Donà inadvertently turned into his own net while trying to clear. In the 66th minute, Inter had two chances to double the lead through Peschetola and Politi but they couldn’t take them. A few minutes from the end, the Inter goalkeeper Magri saved a Pieragnolo strike to prevent the blow of conceding a late equaliser. It finished 1-0 and Inter claimed the Supercoppa! It was a great double for the Under-15 side and the 50th title overall in the history of the Elite Academy!!!
