Youth Sector
— Jan 7th 2018Colidio: "I'm so happy for my first trophy". Sala; "I dreamt about this moment". Brignoli: "San Siro gave us an extra boost"
It was trophy number 46 for the Inter Youth sector but the first ever Supercoppa Primavera for the Nerazzurri. Here are the comments from the players following the 2-1 win over Roma.
Man-of-the-moment Facundo Colidio, who scored a decisive brace, said, "I'm so happy; it's my first trophy with the squad and I can't describe it." Marco Pissardo, who also made a huge contribution with some great saves in normal time said, "We started quite well and I knew that it wouldn't stay 1-0 because they're a strong team. I wasn't expecting them to equalise straight away though! We came out well in the second half. I'm happy because I've come up through the ranks at Inter; I'm happy to have come back and lent a hand to the younger players."
Marco Sala shared that view and pointed out that it was in the balance until the very end saying, "It's very satisfying and we really wanted this. It's always great to win, we need to congratulate Roma for a very good game but it was better that it ended like this. Thank you to everyone who came to watch me. This morning I woke up full of cold but I thought I couldn't not play, I've been waiting for it for too long. The boss told us that it was the only cup he hadn't won so we had to win and I think this is the best way to do it."
Tommaso Brignoli told Inter TV, "We were ready for this match, we knew how hard it would be but we faced up to it with the right attitude from the start. We had an advantage over them. It was an undescribable emotion. When we came in I had shivers down my spine, it was a dream come true."
Matteo Rover was also happy with the win saying, "Lifting the Supercoppa is great. Now we'll give everything in the Youth League", a sentiment echoed by Xian Emmers who said, "It's a great gift to all the supporters. I'm dedicating this win to my family who follow me everywhere." Valietti and Bettella had a double interview where they said, "Huge satisfaction, we played a great game and to win in an Inter shirt is even better".
Finally, Inter TV spoke to the captain Manuel Lombardoni who stated, "The result last year was painful and it pushed us on to win this match. Just playing in this stadium meant it was a great match and capping the day off with a win was brilliant. We had to be brave so that we weren't too timid at the start of the match, especially on a stage like the San Siro. It was a tough game, but we kept going even in extra time."
