Inter took the lead thanks to a Vicari own goal before Paloschi equalised at the end, Spalletti's side move up to 44 points from 22 matches

FERRARA – After the 1-1 against Spal at the Stadio Mazza, it was another draw for Luciano Spalletti’s Inter, the fourth straight in the league. The Nerazzurri took the lead in the 48th minute thanks to a Vicari own goal before Paloschi levelled in the 90th minute. Following this result, Inter move to 44 points after 22 matches.

The match started at a low tempo. The first chance came in the 14th minute through Candreva who received the ball from Vecino on the right and shot but Meret saved. 20 minutes in, the home side got closer to Handanovic’s goal when Grassi headed over from an Antenucci cross. Halfway through the half, Inter struggled to create much against a well-organised Spal side. In the 38th minute, Antenucci looked to surprise Handanovic with a shot from distance but the Slovenian goalkeeper saved from a central position. In the 45th minute, there was a good chance for Mauro Icardi who was set up in the box by D’Ambrosio but he failed to hit the target on the turn. Therefore, the sides went into the break with the score still goalless.

Following the interval, Spalletti made one immediate change by sending on Eder in place of Candreva, with Inter swiftly breaking the deadlock soon after. Cancelo broke free down the left and fired in a 48th minute cross which fortunately struck the foot of Vicari, with the ball consequently flying past a helpless Meret. Spal soon reacted seven minutes later, with Viviani earning his side a corner thanks to a deflected effort from outside the box. The game began to heat up, with Inter attacking with pace and Perisic teeing up Vecino in the 58th minute, whose right-footed effort was wonderfully saved by Meret. The Nerazzurri came close once again just three minutes later, with Cancelo driving forward and sending a fierce effort just wide of the post. The hosts responded in the 64th minute, although the Nerazzurri defence just about cleared after two successive efforts from the Spal attack. Brozovic tried his luck in the 72nd minute, with Meret pulling off a fine save to put the ball out for a corner. The following set piece then nearly saw Grassi score the second own goal of the game. As the game wore on, Spal began to threaten more frequently, initially through Kurtic in the 76th minute, before Paloschi then missed a good headed chance three minutes later. They ultimately levelled in the 90th minute, with Paloschi heading home from close range after a dangerous cross from Antenucci. The referee added on four minutes of injury time, however, the result eventually finished tied at 1-1.
