Sesto San Giovanni
– There was a second win in as many matches in 2018 for Stefano Vecchi's U19s which left the coach pleased with the spirit shown by his team during the match against Bologna. Today's fixture marked the half way stage of the Primavera 1 TIM championship and it ended in a Nerazzurri victory despite Inter being reduced to ten men for practically the entire second half. "We knew it would be a difficult game", the Nerazzurri coach told Inter TV, "We've come off the back of a week where we had to get over our mental and physical fatigue from the Supercoppa. We weren't at our best, so it's a win that's worth more than three points.
"We did well to keep playing right to the end because anything could have happened", he added, "We got what we deserved thanks to our desire and spirit. The boys were brilliant because that Bologna team has physicality and plays good football. They were also playing someone who was born in 1993. We knew that they'd cause us problems; the second half was affected by the red card but then we showed our character".
The coach ended by talking about the man of the match, Xian Emmers, who once again played a decisive role: "He's continuing to develop; I'm happy for him but we know exactly what kind of player he is. Today everyone gave 120%. Now we just need a bit of rest so we can get going again. We've ended the first half of the season level on points with Atalanta. It's early to be drawing conclusions but it's important we keep a gap to third place".
