The Nerazzurri coach after Bologna 1-1 Inter: "We need more consistency and to be combative, we are Inter and we must have clear ideas"

BOLOGNA – “We went onto the pitch flatter than usual and we weren’t able to move the ball well vertically, especially in the midfield,” said Luciano Spalletti after the 1-1 draw away at Bologna on matchday five of Serie A . “We gave our opponents chances to block our passes other than in the second half when we stepped up at the beginning.”

“The plans with which we planned for tonight’s game were the right ones. But, we persisted too much with short passes in the middle when more speed was needed. We have to do more, but I don’t think a draw was an unfair result. We could have gone ahead straight away from Joao Mario’s chance and then they pressed well. In the second half, we reacted well and you could see that we wanted to overturn the score even if it was without much precision or focus.”

“We must keep being tougher and ruthless. At some points, we were less combative so we need to do more here because nobody gives you anything. We are Inter and we have to clear ideas in our brand of football, we weren’t up to our standard today.”
