RISCONE DI BRUNICO - Piero Ausilio believes Inter's future is in safe hands with Luciano Spalletti at the helm and Suning behind the club.
Speaking on Sky Sport Italia's Calciomercato - L'Originale programme, the sporting director discussed the new Nerazzurri coach, the club's focus on youth and transfer targets and Suning's ambition to build a 'great team and a great club'.
Beginning with a question on the club's strategy of signing up on talented young prospects, he said: "We've always worked with youth and there are lots of players scattered around Europe's top leagues who came through Inter's youth ranks.
"We identified three or four talented youngsters we believe are right for Inter and we moved early for them."
Ausilio also explained Inter's decision to hand the reins to Luciano Spalletti.
"The reason is very simple: he's a top coach. I've got to know him better in the last month and he's already on the ball – he settled in here instantly. He's motivated, experienced and he's got the support of a first-rate backroom team. The fans needn't worry because Inter are in the hands of a true pro who has everything needed to succeed.”
Quizzed further on specific transfer targets, the sporting director added: "We have some names in mind but we're not going to rush things. We already have a decent squad here so we don't need a complete overhaul, just a few additions here and there to improve it.
“We know where we want to strengthen and the window closes on 31 August. I'm sure by then we'll have Spalletti's Inter, a team we'll have built together.”
Finally, Ausilio spoke about the level of professionalism he has seen at Suning and the group's plans for the future.
"Suning are a solid, well-recognised group who want to build a great Inter team. They are professional, meticulous and believe very strongly in planning.
"We're putting together a great club that pays due attention not only to the football side but also to facilities and the brand. That's the only way to build long-lasting success.”
