MILAN – It’s Throwback Thursday time again, and this week we’re remembering the last league appearance made for the club by a true Inter Legend: Armando Picchi.

Exactly 50 years ago today, on 1 June 1967, the defender and captain of Helenio Herrera’s Grande Inter side made his final Serie A appearance for the Nerazzurri away at Mantova. Signed from SPAL in 1960, Picchi quickly became one of the central pillars of an Inter side that would win everything there was to win in Italy and internationally.

In total, that team won three Scudetto titles (1962/63, 1964/65 and 1965/66), two European Cups (1963/64 and 1964/65) and two Intercontinental Cups (1964/65 and 1965/66). In total, Picchi made 257 appearances for the Nerazzurri, scoring two goals in the process.
