NOVARA – Stefano Vecchi acknowledged that his Inter Primavera side had been off colour as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Novara on Thursday.
"It wasn’t a great game and that was perhaps partly down to it being the first really hot day," began the Primavera coach, speaking after the game. "We were up against a tough side that have always done well against the big teams. We knew they were going to give it everything they had but we didn’t produce our best form."
Vecchi also bemoaned the lack of killer instinct from his young side in attack.
"We stood firm in defence and never looked in any trouble, but we weren’t clinical enough in midfield and up front so that’s why it was a bit of a subdued game," he explained. "It didn’t go as planned, but we go home with a point that allows us to keep moving forward.
"As of tomorrow we start focusing on the Viareggio Cup. We’ll be without a few big players due to international duty, but we’ll still have a competitive group and we’ll try to play to the best of our potential."
