The Nerazzurri took the lead on 23 minutes as Carraro expertly picked out Rover, who burst into the box from the left and beat Crisanto to make it 1-0.
Roma equalised 16 minutes into the second half after Vanheusden was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area – Marchizza stepped up to level the scores at 1-1.
