PALERMO – Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has urged the team to continue doing everything they can to maintain their winning run in Serie A.
"We’re working hard and trying to take care of all the details – that goes for both the coach and the players," said Ausilio ahead of kick-off against Palermo. "Our goal is to take it game by game. Since Pioli came in we’ve got more points than anyone else, but our rivals are still going strong. Unfortunately it’s not just up to us."
Ausilio was also asked about the Nerazzurri’s transfer plans, with just over a week of the window remaining.
"We’re trying to plan things well and focus on players who are going to help our project. We already have an excellent squad and it won’t be easy to improve on it, but we’ll try. Messi? That’s just getting the fans’ hopes up for something that I think is impossible. Suning are a very solid organisation – they have the means and the good intentions and they want Inter to be great.
"Our squad is looking good. We know where we can improve but we don’t think it’s going to be possible in this window. We’ve signed Gagliardini and he was the player we wanted for the present and future of our midfield. I don’t think there’ll be any surprise arrivals, but we may make the squad a little more compact in terms of numbers."
