In taking to the pitch against Juventus on matchday 27 in Serie A, Matteo Darmian made his 100th Inter appearance in all competitions.
A prestigious feat achieved on a bitter night for Inter, who were beaten by Juventus. This is what the Italian defender had to say to Inter TV and DAZN after the game:
“It wasn’t a fantastic game from a technical perspective; it was more about fighting for second balls and, unfortunately, we were unable to equalise. A draw would have been fairer given how the match went. Juventus played well, and we could have done better. We need to improve and take responsibility for this defeat. Now, there’s the international break, during which we’ll get down to work. Then, we’ll aim to resume our league campaign in the best way possible. For me, it’s clear what happened with their goal; the images speak for themselves. It’s a situation that greatly impacted the game. I immediately raised my hand after Kostic’s finish and, although I wasn’t certain, I had a strong feeling a hand was involved.”
Darmian finished by commenting on his international call-up after five years away from the Italy squad:
“I’m happy to have been called up to the National Team; it’s a reward for all my efforts and the commitment I always show during the week and in matches. It’s a source of pride: wearing the Italy shirt is special; it’s a dream every time you do so.”
