A late Lautaro Martinez leveller allowed Inter to come away with a draw from their trip to San Sebastian: it finished 1-1 against Real Sociedad on matchday one in Champions League Group D. At the Reale Arena, the hosts made a ferocious start, hitting the post and then taking the lead through Mendez in the fourth minute. Inter were forced to dig in and stayed in the game, also thanks to Sommer’s saves. The Nerazzurri finished strongly and, after a Lautaro equaliser in the 82th minute, laid siege on the Real Sociedad goal. Even if they didn’t come away with a win, it was an important point for Inzaghi’s men, also considering Salzburg’s victory away to Benfica.
